A group of homeless people in the United States capital get abducted by young and wealth individuals with the sole purpose of having them participate in a social experiment: Eat soup with only using a large heavy silver spoon.
Helping Hand is a darkly satirical short film that follows a group of homeless individuals who are abducted by two privileged young men under the pretense of charity and placed into a bizarre “social experiment.” Forced to eat soup using comically oversized spoons without spilling—a twisted metaphor for communal cooperation—the participants are punished with grotesque consequences for failure, including the loss of limbs at the press of a button. As chaos erupts and survival instincts clash with manufactured morality, the experiment devolves into carnage, exposing the cruelty and performative nature of so-called humanitarian aid.
