The story follows the life of a black young woman that has
dreams of going to college and making it big in life so as to
alleviate the poverty at a home. However efforts to get to
college prove futile. She meets a man who is a councillor
aspirant and promises her to sponsor her tertiary education.
However the man is a sexual predator. He rapes her and
infects her with HIV.
On the other hand, she is considered as a source of income
and her father wants to marry her off as he has a secret
debt. Efforts to expose her sexual abuser prove futile as the
man bribes the authorities. She is completely silenced.
In order to have that voice to speak and expose the man, she
decides to contest a ward councillor bye elections along side
her abuser. She wants to have that power and authority to
expose the man and speak out for the girls and women in the
community were women are not considered in men dominated
fields. She wins the elections and the man is put behind
bars. In the end the young woman dies tragically.
