Darwin Hemley is an accomplished author living in New York City. When his latest novel fails with critics, he suddenly finds himself having to defend his image. To do so his agent manages to secure a deal with a film production company to adapt his most famous work into a feature film. Little does anyone know his most famous novel, his first one, is based on his own troubled past he has labored so hard to distance himself from, as well as keep from the public. To tell the story properly he agrees to the adaptation on the basis the he produce the screenplay himself, which leads him into several encounters with his past he must face, once and for all.
