Blue, an atypical and non binary teen, struggles to be accepted at work and at home. As a form of escapism, they are obsessed with the old tv show Kid Detective and the main character Danny—despite their parents’ wishes. When Blue’s parents decide to take away what little Blue has left of Kid Detective, they run away in search of Jack Jones, the once child star who played Danny turned washed up actor on the brink of divorse. Blue sneaks into Jack’s trailer when he isn’t looking, and after three promises and deep convincing, the two embark on an unexpected journey across the country. Each filled with their own set of secrets and lies, the unlikely pair face the tribulations of a callous society in order to find the acceptance they need, even though it may not necessarily be what they want.
